JV Proposes 10-Story, 115-Key Hotel In Wynwood

Robert Finvarb Companies and Hidrock Properties are planning a 115-room branded hotel in Miami’s Wynwood, marking the joint venture’s third project in the artsy neighborhood.

An affiliate of Aventura-based Robert Finvarb and New York-based Hidrock bought a 0.2-acre site at 160 Northwest 28th Street for $6.7 million, records show. The seller, an entity managed by Maxmillian Beltrame Widmann in Miami, had paid $3 million for the vacant lot in 2016.

The proposed 10-story hotel will cost an estimated $20 million to build, said Hidrock CEO Abraham “Abie” Hidary.

“We are in the very early stages of planning it,” Hidary said. “There will be three food and beverage components on the ground-floor, the second floor and the rooftop.”

The joint venture has not yet identified the brand for the hotel, Hidary added.

Hotels represent the next wave of development in Wynwood, Hidary said. The neighborhood’s first hotel, the 217-key Arlo Wynwood at 2217 Northwest Miami Court, built by Quadrum Global, was completed last year. A partnership involving Andres Klein, founder and principal of BH Investment Group, is developing One Eleven Wynwood Hotel by Sonder, a proposed 72-room project at 111 Northwest 26th Street. And in December, Aventura-based Turnberry Associates unveiled plans to build a mixed-use hotel project at 127 and 135 Northwest 24th Street and 128 and 138 Northwest 25th Street. Last year, Turnberry paid $13.1 million for the properties.

The First Hotel In Miami’s White-Hot Wynwood Is A Temple Of Great Food, Fun Drinks And Cool Design

This past November, the Arlo Wynwood became the first-ever hotel in Miami’s super-hip Wynwood neighborhood, which is now home to the largest concentration of street art in the world. An “experience-driven” boutique hotel, Arlo Wynwood is also designed to serve as a “cultural hub” for locals and visitors as the burgeoning brand, which also operates Arlo SoHo, Arlo NoMad and Arlo Midtown in New York City, and Nautilus by Arlo in Miami Beach, puts it.

Designed by Meyer Davis, an award winning, globally recognized New York City–based design firm with major hospitality industry cred, the property “draws on the neighborhood’s bold and curated artistic nature while embracing an eclectic industrial aesthetic where organic meets modern.”

“Ever since our pre-opening, we sought to embrace the creativity and diversity of the neighborhood in every detail, from our design and architecture, to our artwork and partnerships with lifestyle, wellness and food & beverage brands,” Jennifer Hiblum, Arlo Wynwood’s General Manager.

“Wynwood has embraced us, too. We’re honored to serve our community as the only hotel in the district, and welcome both visitors and locals to enjoy our public spaces and experience something different and memorable each time they come.” So far that definitely seems to be the case.

Chief among its attractions is MaryGold’s, an eclectic restaurant from James Beard alum Chef Brad Kilgore that’s already winning rave reviews, described as a Florida brasserie.

Meanwhile Bar Lab, the cool culinary and cocktail collective behind three-time “Top 50 Bars in the World” award-winner Broken Shaker, is seeing to the drinks side of the business, not only at the restaurant, but also a cocktail-centric third-floor indoor/outdoor lounge called Higher Ground, and a rooftop pool deck that have added a new dimension to the neighborhood’s nightlife.
The sprawling rooftop with panoramic neighborhood views, a picture-perfect pool, private cabanas, and a bar and café, is the spot to be on sunny days. It definitely makes up for not being next to the beach. There’s also a yoga deck and a pool table in the indoor lounge at Higher Ground if you prefer to hang indoors.

Reflective of its community, Arlo Wynwood will moonlight as a living canvas for a curated group of artists that spark curiosity from art connoisseurs and novices alike. Arlo Wynwood’s interiors will display more than 250 works of art from a range of artists, including Alain CastorianoCoruna LunaJessica PoundstoneJoe GeisLauren WilliamsMatthias LupriRyan Coleman, and Tom Abbiss, among others.

“We are thrilled Arlo Hotels is the first hotel brand opening in the district. We are attracting a new generation of creatives and entrepreneurs who want to live, work, eat, play and learn in our community, and Arlo will serve them well as their home away from home or remote workspace where inspiration awaits.”

Here’s A Look At Wynwood’s First Hotel, Opening This Fall

One of the best things about Wynwood: it isn’t crammed with resorts the way South Beach is or packed with high-rises like Brickell. Both mean congested avenues and Miami restaurants you’ll never get into. The worst thing about Wynwood? There’s nowhere to stay overnight, whether it’s after your Miami bar crawl or for a weekend escape in the city’s art district. Luckily, that’s soon to change.

This fall, experience-driven hotel brand Arlo will debut the neighborhood’s very first hotel. Designed by Meyer Davis, Arlo Wynwood is set to be a nine-story, 217-room property boasting a rooftop pool with private cabanas, a bar, a café and a yoga deck. Guests will also have access to an indoor/outdoor restaurant, three bars, a bodega and a pool table—or zip around the neighborhood in your complimentary bike rental. Expect guest rooms to be thoroughly modern but warm, bringing some of the outside in with fresh greenery and light wood accents. Perhaps slightly less gritty and industrial than other developments in the neighborhood.

In keeping with its artistic surroundings, Arlo Wynwood, which opens in October, will display more than 250 works of art from a range of artists, including Alain Castoriano, Coruna Luna and Jessica Poundstone. The hotel’s exteriors will feature works by Miami-based artist Hoxxoh, known for his “spheres of life” that illustrate the motions of space and time, as well as MILAGROS Collective, whose co-founders, Felici Asteinza and Joey Fillastre, will create site-specific geometric work. Up on the yoga deck, Florida-based collage artist Ari Robinson will present a plexiglass mural that interacts with light.

Locals are invited to hang at Arlo Wynwood too, specifically at one of its wellness-themed events—be it the daily yoga classes or weekly meditation sessions. There’s also nighttime programming in the works, featuring DJs and live music to bring home the Wynwood vibes.
